Research that Matters
At Loyola, it’s easy to get beyond the classroom walls and into the community. During your graduate studies, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct original research that can help inform policy and empower those in need.
As Associate Professor Philip Hong explains, “At Loyola, our commitment to social justice informs our approach to research. We believe in the reality of the individual’s own experience. As a result, we are able to partner with clients in their own treatment and to empower them to change their situation.”
Dr. Hong’s own research centers on self-sufficiency and empowerment among low-income job seekers. Whether you’re helping monitor needed improvements to a program, or helping develop intervention models, you’ll similarly have the opportunity to learn about and give voice to the needs of the community.
